Coordinating a Corporate Crisis Response
Holly Energy Partners (HEP) operates pipelines and terminals that serve customers in the Southwest, Rocky Mountain and Mid-West regions of the U.S. Holly Energy Partners engaged Pierpont to create an effective Crisis Response Plan that would prepare the company to respond to the public in an organized, effective way during a situation that could affect the organization’s corporate reputation.
To develop a plan that was informed and on target, Pierpont delved into HEP’s operations, evaluated vulnerabilities, identified key publics and collected the information necessary. Totaling three volumes of more than 600 pages, this comprehensive plan was designed to be the singular source of information team members would need during a crisis.
Contents included: the methodology used to create the plan, including specific HEP employees identified as Crisis Team Members, step-by-step instructions for each member of the Crisis Team to use during every stage of a crisis, reference material to aid the Team in fulfilling their responsibilities and access information for Crisis Hotlines, Web sites and instructions for handling news media.
The plan, which was awarded a Texas Public Relations Association Silver Spur Award, enables Holly Energy Partners to stand ready to successfully respond to the public in the event of a major incident or potential crisis situation.
