Celebrating 30 Years by Giving Back

The traditional gift for a 30th anniversary is the pearl. In 2017, we decided to celebrate 30 years in business by sharing pearls of wisdom – dedicating our time and our talents to give back to the communities we live in, work in and love.

In the spirit of the season, Pierponters have shared stories of their most cherished community engagements over the last year. Some of us shared stories of community organizations that have been part of our lives for many years, while other Pierponters sought out new ways to give back. Check them out in the video below.

In addition to individual efforts, several Pierponters teamed up throughout the year to give back to worthy initiatives. Pierpont’s Austin office spent a day at the Central Texas Food Bank this summer to help create more than 23,850 meals for Austin-area families in need. Nearly 46,000 Central Texans, one-third of them children, count on the Central Texas Food Bank each week to get nutritious food they need and otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.

Pierpont’s Dallas office volunteered with Bonton Farms to expand access to healthy food for South Dallas residents. The Bonton neighborhood is a food desert, where 63 percent of residents lack personal transportation and the nearest grocery store is a 3-hour roundtrip bus ride away. Bonton Farms reclaims vacant land sites and employs local residents to restore health, create jobs and ignite hope.

And when Hurricane Harvey descended upon Houston, Houston Pierponters rallied their talents and community partnerships to bring help where it was needed. This included providing on-site PR support for Mayor Sylvester Turner’s office at the George R. Brown Convention Center, taking calls at KPRC’s phone drive for the American Red Cross, and providing support at emergency shelters.

Looking ahead to 2018, we look forward to continuing our commitments to making our cities – and the state of Texas – better places to live, work and do business through our ongoing pro-bono support, community leadership roles and commitment to education. We’re grateful for the support of clients and partners over the last three decades and wish you a joy-filled and prosperous New Year.
