Philip Morabito founded Pierpont Communications in 1987 after leaving New York City and a prestigious Madison Avenue public relations firm. Hiring his first employee in 1992, Phil now oversees the largest independent integrated marketing and PR firm in the southwest – with offices in Houston, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio. Phil has more than 37 years of experience in public relations and marketing, beginning with the firm of Robert Marston & Associates. Passionate about education, he is an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Bauer School of Business, where he teaches integrated marketing communications to second-year MBA and other graduate students. He recently established the Advisory Board for the Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston and serves on the Board of Directors for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Phil is also actively involved with the Board of Trustees at his alma mater, the University of Charleston in West Virginia.

Professional Experience

Locally, he serves as an advocate for charitable organizations through his involvement with the San Jose Clinic’s Board of Directors, Theater Under the Stars (TUTS), and John Paul II Catholic School. Phil also contributes as a member of several professional organizations including International Association of Business Communicators, American Marketing Association, Public Relations Society of America, Silver Fox Advisors and Vistage International. Phil was recognized as the Houston Business Journal’s Most Admired CEO in 2018, and under his leadership, Pierpont has been named a Best Place to Work a total of 14 times. The firm is a five-time Houston 100 company, was a finalist for PRWeek’s 2002 and 2013 Mid-Size Agency of the Year and was named on the Inc. 500 list in 2001 and the Inc. 5000 in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Phil was also selected as the 1999 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Houston Partnership CEO Roundtables for small businesses. In 2006, he was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Services category. And, in 2017, he was honored with PRSA Houston’s Legacy Award. Phil earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the University of Charleston and an MBA from the University of South Florida.
