As part of our 30th anniversary giving campaign, Pierpont experts will be sharing their industry knowledge and professional insights with Houston-area nonprofit organizations during a new marketing series.
This comprehensive program of marketing workshops will be held at the United Way of Greater Houston’s Community Resource Center. The series will include sessions on strategy & planning, public relations, public affairs, marketing, brand storytelling, crisis management, digital communications and more.

Wednesday, April 12 | Chris Wailes will share insights on Media Relations for Nonprofits. His presentation will review how to maximize media coverage for your nonprofit by identifying the types of stories media want to cover. He will also explore how to cultivate relationships with the media to amplify organizations’ coverage, as well as tips for preparing spokespersons.
Wednesday, May 10 | Dori Ludwig and Amy Lach will discuss Social Media for Nonprofits. Their presentation will explain how to expand an organization’s presence using social media channels. They will review best practices in social media management, monitoring and analytics, and leveraging social channels for targeted community engagement.
Wednesday, June 21 | Lara Zuehlke will delve into Effective Storytelling for Nonprofits. Her presentation will illustrate how to engage your audiences with the right story, at the right time. She will explore how to identify an organization’s unique brand story and share it through effective content planning, content development, distribution through all types of channels, and monitoring for success.
Wednesday, August 9 | Nancy Sims will explore Public Affairs for Nonprofits. Her presentation will discuss understanding and engaging stakeholders to improve government relations. She will navigate how to power-map connections and increase stakeholder engagement to influence public policy on an organization’s behalf.
Wednesday, October 4 | Terry Hemeyer will share his insight on Crisis Communications for Nonprofits. His presentation will explain how to proactively identify possible vulnerabilities within an organization, as well potential external factors negatively impacting an organization. He will walk through what’s required for developing an effective crisis strategy to manage situations and protect a brand.
