Like many others, we’re deeply saddened by the events in the city of West. We’re also engaged in supporting relief efforts through the American Red Cross and would like to invite you to join us.
Pierpont is an active supporter of the Red Cross, through Austin General Manager Stacy Armijo’s role as Board Chair for the Central Texas chapter and Account Executive Sylvester Palacios’ role as a Volunteer Public Information Officer. In fact, Sylvester is being deployed to West this weekend to provide support for media relations and other communications in Spanish during the response.
To date, the Red Cross has opened a shelter and community response center in West; deployed disaster workers and mental health professionals from all over the state; distributed relief items, such as comfort kids and water; and more. In addition, Red Cross Blood Services is providing blood products to help those injured.
We’re so grateful that the Red Cross stands ready to provide this type of crucial assistance and we hope you’ll join us in supporting our neighbors by donating to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund at 1-800-RED-CROSS or on the Central Texas chapter website. In addition, find out how the Red Cross is helping those in Boston and preparing residents in the Midwest for severe weather and flooding as rain and winds continue to move through that part of the country. Whether it’s down the street, across the country or around the world, the Red Cross is there in these times of need. Thank you for helping to make that possible.
