Terry Hemeyer

Terry Hemeyer Houston Crisis Communications Austin Crisis CommunicationsTerry Hemeyer serves as Senior Counsel to Pierpont and is a reputation management specialist for the firm.  With more than 35 years of communication and management experience, he’s just about seen it all.  Just ask his students at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is a distinguished lecturer, and at Rice University, where he teaches crisis management in the MBA program at the Jones School.

Terry is a published expert specializing in corporate litigation communication, public relations, consumer marketing, advertising and turnaround management.  Some would call him a celebrity, given his notable appearances on programs such as the NBC Today Show, the Tonight Show and CBS’ 60 Minutes.  He has also been quoted in myriad national publications, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Business Week, and USA Today.

Prior to joining Pierpont, Terry served in top management for a Fortune 150 company and was the top communications executive for an international consumer services company.  In addition, he was an Executive Vice President for Edelman Worldwide and worked in various roles for other prominent agencies.

Prior to his career in corporate public relations, Terry spent 20 years in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Colonel and earning the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam.  In addition to serving our country, he was a communication advisor to the Carter White House and President George Herbert Walker Bush.

Named PR Practitioner of the Year by the Texas Public Relations Association, he also holds the “Eyes of Texas” service award from The University of Texas.  His education includes the Stanford University Business School Executive Program, a Master’s degree in communication from the University of Denver, a Bachelor of Science in education from Ohio State University and coursework at the Rice University Advanced Management Institute.
