Promo Product Pointers

by Scott Cytron, Friday, Dec 21, 2007, 09:12am Creating and maintaining logo products is a key component of a solid marketing/communications plan. You want customers and clients to remember your company, yet you also want to set yourself apart from the rest of the pack.

While many may think the ubiquitous pen or coffee mug is a must-have giveaway, this cookie-cutter approach is not the way to go.

According to a story in the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, " ... you've got to be creative and make it different. You've got to get something useful, with items related to your business."

For example, a computer repair company gave away a logo-emblazoned flash drive. It could have easily given away a notepad with its name, but that would not be related to the company key service.

Another rule of thumb for a more well-known company is to avoid putting a phone number on an item. If the company is known, there would be no need for the number. However, small companies want to ensure they are identifiable with a number and website address.

The last suggestion? Be careful what you put your logo on. For example, a "lamp" would not be the wisest choice.

How about one of the new long-lasting energy saving light bulbs?
