Now is the Time to be Visible

by Phil Morabito, Tuesday, Sep 30, 2008, 01:09pm

The struggling economy is at the forefront of conversations around the globe. In circumstances such as these, companies become too cautious and complacent.

What if you took a different approach? Imagine the influence your business can have on clients and customers if you were the only company aggresively promoting your services and products instead of being complacent. Make the slowing economy an opportunity instead of tightening your grip in fear.

Now is the time to be visible when the rest of the world has chosen to be invisible.

It's true that many companies choose to cut down their marketing and public relations dollars. However, aggression in today's market means one thing: opportunity. Your company's dollars will go further and results will come at a timelier rate.

Here are three ways you can stand out among your peers by maximizing your public relations dollars:

▼      Aggressively Seek Story Placements - Pursue story opportunities that will make a substantial, long-lasting impact.

▼      Speak Up - Look for opportunities where you can speak as the expert on the buzz topics in your industry. Tackle a controversial issue or let people know why they should continue using your service offering during a down economy.

▼      Create Opportunity - Decide on a theme for a conference, seminar or luncheon. Partner with strategic alliances to create your own networking opportunity. Sell yourself as the expert.

Time is of the essence. Visibility will bring you rewards and recognition.

Phil, do you think the economy has chances here? I am just reading the volume of national debt, and not sure how the US will fix this problem…

    Phil -
Great timely and relevant post. You are absolutely dead-on. This is the approach we should be taking for our business and our clients' business.
