Global agency veteran to grow Pierpont’s Dallas office; provide strategic counsel to key clients
DALLAS and HOUSTON – November 22, 2011 -- Teresa Henderson is joining Houston-based Pierpont Communications after spending 13 years in senior leadership positions at Edelman and Ketchum, respectively.
Henderson, who has served as general manager for Edelman’s Dallas office since 2005, will take the reins on January 3, 2012 as senior vice president and general manager for Pierpont in Dallas while also providing senior counsel for Pierpont clients in all four of the firm’s offices.
“Teresa has a proven track record in Dallas and is respected across Texas as a communications strategist, business builder, manager and mentor,” said Pierpont Chief Executive Officer Phil Morabito. “She is embedded in the Dallas business community and has deep experience working across geographies in the consumer, technology and corporate sectors -- particularly in energy, issues and crisis and corporate reputation management. We’re very pleased to add Teresa’s expertise, creativity and passion to our talented senior management team.”
During the past two decades, Henderson has served as a brand steward for industry leaders and leading organizations including Oncor Electric Delivery, Reliant Energy, Barnett Shale Energy Education Council, Nokia, LIVESTRONG, ExxonMobil, FedEx Corp., USAA, Boy Scouts of America, Project Management Institute, Freeman, Dickies, Sofitel, Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages, Miller Lite, Red Roof Inns, The Ad Council and many others.
Most recently at Edelman, she provided strategic planning and management to a first-of-its-kind working group that included Oncor, CenterPoint Energy, IBM, Landis+Gyr, Itron and GE to execute the consortium’s “Biggest Energy Saver” consumer and apps contests, which were designed to raise awareness of electric utility smart meters and smart technology. From 1999 until 2005, she served as director for Ketchum’s Texas operations, where responsibilities included a six-month assignment as global director of media relations and issues/crisis management for the ATHENS International Olympic Torch Relay tour and directing global financial communications for Daisytek, Inc., the largest Texas-based bankruptcy since Enron.
“Pierpont’s reputation for excellence has continued to grow, year over year, for almost 25 years,” said Henderson, who has held progressively responsible communications in both agency and corporate environments since 1984 and currently serves on the board of directors for the Dallas Regional Chamber. “The leadership team has incredible depth and breadth of experience across public relations, marketing, investor relations and public affairs. It’s my privilege to join Pierpont’s cadre of experts in Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio, and I can’t wait to dig in.”
