Pierpont Takes Home the Gold at the PRSA Excalibur Awards!
June 22, 2010
Our celebrated "Generation of Forgotten Vietnam Veterans" campaign won the Gold Excalibur Award in the Media Relations Category and received Honorable Mention for the Grand Excalibur Award in which one of the judges gave the campaign a perfect score. You can read more about the campaign below as well as other awards it has received.
For an innovative and high-impact campaign, which brought national and Presidential recognition to a heroic (yet long anonymous) U.S. Army Troop’s rescue mission during the Vietnam War, the AMA Houston Chapter awarded Pierpont with not one, but two awards at its annual Crystal Awards on May 20th. AMA Houston is the second largest AMA chapter in the United States, representing not only the best in Houston – but among the best in the nation. Pierpont received:
· Best Public Relations Campaign – Multiple Markets
· Judges’ Favorite (Best of Show): This top honor is given to the best campaign/entry of the entire competition – signifying that Pierpont beat out dozens of categories and hundreds of entries to win the Crystal Awards’ ultimate prestige.
Pierpont Communications leveraged a national campaign to garner staggering media attention and bring overdue recognition to not only the soldiers of the mission, but all Vietnam veterans. The campaign alerted America, and the White House, of the veterans’ forgotten heroism, making them a public concern - ultimately helping 86 surviving members of the small, yet brave, troop to be recognized by President Obama in a White House Rose Garden ceremony, who addressed the overlooked valor of all Vietnam veterans as a “national disgrace”.
