Here's the buzz on Google Buzz

As many of you know, Google launched a major new product this week: Google Buzz. This service, which operates within your Gmail and Google accounts, is a social network that has a lot of similarities to Facebook and Twitter (i.e. status updates, comments, sharing features, follow features, etc.).

Below are a couple of articles from Mashable that will help you understand what Google Buzz is, and how it impacts the social media world:

      • “Google Goes Social with Google Buzz” – This article gives you a basic overview of Google Buzz, what it can do, and what Google hopes to accomplish with the service.

      • “Google Buzz: What It Means for Twitter and Facebook” – Interestingly enough, Google has integrated somewhat with Twitter, but remains completely disconnected from Facebook (some speculate that this is because Facebook is gearing up for its own Internet takeover). This article discusses how Buzz could potentially impact other major social networks.

Another interesting fact to note is that although Buzz just launched on Tuesday, it has already surpassed 9 million posts and comments and has already implemented several major user-recommended changes.

Happy reading, and have a great weekend!
