This week the Pierpont team came together to work on a very special project for an organization that is very dear to our hearts, the San Jose Clinic. On Saturday, December 5, 2009, the San Jose Clinic will celebrate its annual Christmas Party with Santa for the uninsured children of low-income families. This has traditionally been a very joyous occasion, marked by Santa's visit to the Clinic, where he distributes large bags of toys to all the children of the various families who visit the Clinic for healthcare throughout the year. The toys are all donated and stored at the Clinic several weeks prior to the celebration and volunteers place the toys in large black garbage sacks for Santa to distribute. This year, however, there was no room to store the toys because the Clinic will be relocating to its beautiful new home in Midtown at 2615 Fannin in late December.
Since the month of December is devoted to moving preparations and packing, in lieu of a toy drive, the Clinic asked for donations to provide 200 children and their families with gift cards for toys and food during the Christmas season. In addition to making monetary donations, the Pierpont team wanted the children to have something to take home besides a gift card and so our team decided to assemble 200 goody bags with small toys, candy and fruit. We had so much fun filling the bags with goodies which we hope will bring an extra smile to the each of the children this Christmas season!
