Today, we are hosting Pierpont’s 16th Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon and Pie Extravaganza. We expect over 250 people to attend the event in our office.
The tradition started with just four of us around the conference table ordering Thanksgiving catering to get in the mood and spirit of the holiday. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. It allows all of us the opportunity to reflect on the year and be thankful for what we have in life today.
Special to this event, we are also able to thank our families, friends, vendors and supporters for all that they do in helping Pierpont be successful.
A few years back, we added the Pie Extravaganza to the event. Before we knew it, after meeting with all of our guests, the pie would be gone. We added the Extravaganza to this tradition to make sure everyone would have more than their share and a choice of their favorite flavors. Plus, I always look forward to the leftovers.
I hope you and yours have an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. Be thankful for what you have received.
Best,
Phil

At Pierpont, we are dedicated to staying on the forefront of digital marketing. We have sent our employees all across the nation to conferences to hear the leading authorities speak on issues relating to social media and all forms of digital marketing.
To show our commitment to staying on top of the latest trends, we are closing our office this Friday to host an all-day Digital Influence Boot Camp for our employees. This event will focus on topics ranging from buyer behavior and search engine optimization to social networks, blogging, and new media relations.
The digital revolution has impacted our industry in a profound way. We believe that learning to be better consultants to our clients begins with educating ourselves. Follow us on Twitter (@pierpontcom) for updates as we will be tweeting throughout the day.

Last week, The Entrepreneurship Institute held another successful full-day event. Every year the TEI board of directors hosts the President’s Forum to inspire, inform, and stimulate CEOs of entrepreneurial companies. The event is packed with speakers and round table discussions that cover hot topics that are important to CEOs.
This year, I hosted the “New Sources of Revenue/Smart Marketing” round table and highlighted five main strategies about how to generate more revenue through smart marketing efforts.
1. Understanding where the bulk of your revenue comes from – The pathway to expansion may be catering to your current customers rather than recruiting from new markets, or vice versa.
2. Don’t give away your knowledge – Examine what you are providing and how it benefits your clients, then figure out if you can charge for it the next time you offer it.
3. Stop itemizing expenses – Charge an administrative fee that will encompass expenses spent servicing a client. This will save you significant accounting time.
4. Examine your resources – Look at your employees, experience, and products to see if you can leverage them to sell something new.
5. Base your pricing on value – Figure out what the operational expenses are and then come up with a price that encompasses your costs and the value you provide your clients.
I am always encouraged by executives who are eager to learn. Every time I attend an event like The President’s Forum I learn something new and exciting. I would challenge everyone, in all positions, to seek out opportunities to grow and develop.
TEI is a group of business executives who exist to provide unlimited opportunities for business owners to acquire knowledge, experience and resources needed to grow their firms and create new jobs in their communities.

Vice President Denise Patrick and I recently spoke at the Houston Technology Center about using new and traditional media to increase sales and build brand awareness. It was an outstanding event where over 50 participants learned how using both new and traditional marketing tactics can create the perfect catalyst for growing a business. Check out some of the photos below.
I moderated the panel of speakers, which included David Greely, Sr. Brand Manager at Halliburton, Eric Johnson, Vice President of Marketing at SolArc, Steve Latham, CEO of Spur Interactive, and Denise Patrick.
Denise shares some of her sales techniques with attendees, garnered from working with over 2,500 clients.
